About

Exploring Solar is a collection of hands-on and online activities, information, and resources. They have successfully engaged fifth graders, research engineers, college students and learners of all ages. Some of the activities are designed to inform or develop specific skills and others hope to engage students in design challenges with unpredictable results. They’re appropriate for classrooms, after-school, or for family fun. All of the activities have been tested, but we welcome your comments and suggestions.

Exploring Solar is a TCIPG Education project. Power engineering experts and educators from the Office for Mathematics, Science, and Technology Education (MSTE) and the Trustworthy Cyber Infrastructure for the Power Grid (TCIPG) project work together to help teachers and students learn about the current and future system that produces and delivers electricity. TCIPG is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy with support from the Department of Homeland Security.
